*City Name: Shanghai ( 上海 ).

*Real Name: Zhang Yu ( 张钰 ).

*Gender: Male.

*Age: Immortal; around 700. Appears to be about 15 or 16.

*Personality: Unlike most of his siblings, Yu does not end his sentences in "aru" mostly because I keep on forgetting. His own dialect, most commonly known as "Shanghainese", is very different from the Chinese spoken by other cities (it's only 50% intelligible with standard Mandarin). Because of this, he is often misunderstood since they don't know what he's saying most of the time.

Since he has become such a rich and prosperous city in a short amount of time, Yu is a little arrogant. He thinks he's superior to most others and looks down on them. He does not like Westerners ("Wei xian abunasu, da ze!") and chooses to stick with other Asians. Around the few people he likes and trusts like his Li-gege, he can be excessively affectionate and clingy.

Yu has a great interest in technology and is always looking out for latest gadgets. He has the status as the cultural and economic center of East Asia -- though, he and Hong Kong are rivaling for the title.

Although Yu admires Japan's technology (he wants Gundams too), he has a bitter hatred towards him because of the events that occurred during the Sino-Japanese War (rape, bombing, all that good stuff). He also holds a grudge against England ("That bastard!") for the Opium Wars.

*Appearance: Obviously, Yu is Asian. Chinese, to be exact. He has a pale complexion and black hair that reaches about his shoulders. His eyes are a dull shade of violet to represent his large number of foreign settlers (known as "Shanghailanders"). He is pretty short and he looks young for his age. He could probably get into movies for child price if he wanted.

*History: "Originally a fishing and textile town, Shanghai has become one of the most modern and sophisticated cities. Today, it is now the largest center of commerce and finance in mainland China, and has been described as the 'showpiece' of the world's fastest growing economy."
